About  

As part of the Borough by the Bay Festival occurring on Sunday September 29th 2024, the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum invites you to join us for a special tour of museum collections; from shipwreck treasures, to lighthouse lenses and even deckhouses where trading crews would live on long voyages. Explore marine worlds and environments with us as you get a chance to climb onto a real pilot boat on display, see beautiful marine murals painted by fishermen from the days of old, and hear stories about life, death and strife on the water.  

Tour sessions, Sunday 29th September:  

  • 11:30am-12:30pm  
  • 2:00pm–3:00pm  

Bookings are essential.

Borough by the Bay Marine Colouring Competition at the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum

About  

Do you have what it takes to become a marine artist – to paint a sea in the deepest blues and to colour the sails of the fastest ship?! 

Children are invited and challenged to enter into the free Borough by the Bay marine colouring competition. Come down to the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum to test out your creativity and submit your artwork. The winner will take home a prize presented to them by the Borough by the Bay Festival Team! 

 

Point Lonsdale Lighthouse Tours

About  

As part of the Borough by the Bay Festival occurring on Sunday September 29th 2024, Visit the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse and take part in a tour, exploring the lighthouse lantern and admiring the spectacular views over the entrance to Port Phillip Heads, and along the coast to Ocean Grove and Cape Schanck, while our tour guides reveal the secrets of the lighthouse, shipwrecks and sea vistas before you.   

Tours are run by Queenscliffe Maritime Museum volunteers by arrangement with Ports Victoria (Melbourne), which runs the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse. All guides have Working With Children checks and Certificate 2 First Aid.  

TOUR DETAILS:  

Duration: 30 minutes  

Times: Tours are held Sunday morning 9.30am-12.30pm (last tour).  

Maximum tour group size: Eight people. 

Minimum tour group size: Two people. 

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:  

- Lighthouse tours are not suitable for people with heart pacemakers due to telecommunications equipment, or people who suffer claustrophobia or vertigo.
- Children must be 5 years old and 90cm tall to climb the lighthouse.  

AMENITIES: Parking and toilets nearby. 

Lighthouse Tour bookings are essential.
