We have a number of Pilot On Board and Defiance To The Rescue books that have been donated to the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum.  Purchase a book and all money raised will go directly toward the restoration of  the museum’s newest exhibit – the Port Phillip Pilot Vessel Mavis III.

Defiance to the Rescue is a story based on two brave Couta Boats of Queenscliff, the Lifeboat and a daring rescue at sea. 28 pages, by M and P Caddy, A Scorgie, and illustrated by A Watson.  Published 2006 in Australia. Suitable for children up to 6 years as well as ‘big kids’.

For those who love our local maritime history the Pilot On Board book will be a great gift or a keepsake for your children and grandchildren. This hardcover coffee table book tells the story of Victoria’s Port Phillip Sea Pilot Service from its start in 1839, in the small coastal town of Queenscliff,  in response to the wrecks and dangerous conditions for ships as they navigated the entrance to Port Phillip on their journey to Melbourne.  The book was published to mark the 175th anniversary of the Port Phillip Sea Pilot Service.
